HOSE CLAMP

ANOTHER INNOVATION FOR YOUR SAFETY

The hose clamp is used to isolate the air pressure in the central strut and leading edge. In the event of leaking bladder, the clamp ensures that some air remains in the wing.

OPEN THE HOSE CLAMP WHEN INFLATING / DEFLATING:

To open the hose clamp, push on the lever to allow the clamp to open.

CLOSE THE HOSE CLAMP DURING WING SESSION:

To close the hose clamp, squeeze the clamp together while feeling the teeth ratchet until clamp feels tight.

Refined Wingtips:
the wingtips that already were industry leading have been refined for every size. Now they are even easier to get out of the water when starting and during fun manoeuvres, since they don‘t catch on the water surface. Sizes 6 and smaller also work well on non foiling boards.

Ultimate Handle Position:
the two back handles are the ultimate position and the added forward handles are for entry level and transitions.

Short Centre Strut:

THE SHAPE

To get started we need stability and since volume works on leverage, the further away the volume is from your feet, the more stability it creates. We placed the volume in the rails, at the square nose and at the little “platform” at the tail of the board. Stability is also created by having the feet as close to the foil as possible. We do not want to foil with “High Heels”, so the thinner a board is, the better it rides.

 

RECESSED DECK

Significantly improves stability as you have a lower centre of gravity. It also brings you closer to the foil for more control when up and riding.

 

BOXY RAILS

Pack the volume where you need it, increasing the float and stability so you can ride a narrower and shorter board.

 

ROUND NOSE

Makes it incredibly forgiving on touch downs as the nose bounces and skims off the large surface area, not sticking and slowing you down.

 

DRAINAGE CHANNELS

At the tail of the board lets the water drain out immediately once foiling.

 

HIGH VOLUME TAIL

Boosts the overall float to ride such small boards.

FOIL POSITION

Is optimised to provide early lift for fast take offs and gives a very balanced trim when up and riding.

 

CARRY HANDLE

The carry handle is moved to the bottom of the board to avoid interfering when foiling, yet still easy to carry.

A self-ventilating air valve is available on the board. This valve is self-ventilating so, it should not be touched or removed – otherwise, you are at risk of damaging the valve system.

S-TYPE

For surfing waves and carving maneuvers. The S-Types feel solid, stable and secure. They react instantly and precisely to carving pressure. The smaller the size, the faster the speed. 

The Starboard S-Type 2000 glass wingfoil is a very versatile budget friendly wingfoil that is fully compatible and upgradable. With a front wing of 2000 cm2 you get into the air very quickly. This wingfoil is very stable and ideal for the novice and advanced freeride oriented wingfoiler.

This wingfoil uses the well-known modular foil platform from Starboard Foils, so you can upgrade the wingfoil later. The front and back are made of a G100 pre-preg glass sandwich construction. This makes the construction not only a lot cheaper, but also less vulnerable than the full carbon variants.

The shape of the front and back wing are 100% identical to the more expensive carbon S-Type wings. The Starboard S-type glass wingfoil comes with a fuselage from 1 part and therefore does not have the Quick lock II system. The Starboard S-type glass wingfoil comes with a V8 72 cm aluminum mast.

S-TYPE FRONT WING DESIGN

The lower aspect ratio provides stable and controllable lift with rock-solid stability. The sweeping leading edge lets the wing carve and react smoothly.

Starboard Foils' signature look: the double concave adds stability at speed while the drop-down wing tips act like thruster fins to give precise carving traction.

The moderately thin profile section with its rounded leading edge and a more symmetrical shape blends speed, control, stability and stall-resistance.

HOW ARE THE WINGS BUILT?

With a dose of high-precision, high temperature CNC-milled molds, a dash of extremely high pressure and some finishing touches by a robot sander. We build  these wings in 100% high-modulus pre-preg carbon fibre using a mix of uni-directional fibres, bi-axial fibres and a proprietary ultra-light core. The wings are unbelievably light, stiff and responsive. A double overlap along the leading edge and trailing edge maximises stiffness and strength.   

ARE THEY THE LIGHTEST WINGS IN THE WORLD?

We think so. We don't have access to all available wings but from what we've seen, the wing-building technology that took us three years to perfect puts us in the unique position of having hyper-stiff, bomb-proof wings that are the lightest we've ever seen.

FRONT WING FITTING:

QUICK LOCK HD 

The front wing slides over the fuselage and locks in place with a quick half-turn of the pressure bolt. The new HD upgrade has an extra hole for a second bolt that gives additional security for heavy duty use. 

Will this front wing work with other fuselages?

Quick Lock HD front wings fit both Quick Lock HD fuselages and Quick Lock fuselages. They won't work with Wind Foil fuselages that use the saddle system.

TAIL WING FITTING SYSTEM

The tail wing sits on a carbon tail piece that has an adjustable rocker saddle. Set the tail wing to your desired angle then slide it on to the fuselage. The tail piece locks in place using our patented Quick Lock system, just like the front wing.

MORE LIFT, NEUTRAL OR MORE SPEED?

TRIMMING YOUR TAIL WING

More angle gives more lift. Less angle gives more speed. Once you've trimmed the tail wing angle to your liking, simply tighten the two bolts. There's no need to undo these bolts again. The tail wing and tail piece stay together, ready for Quick Lock assembly / disassembly.

TAIL WING / TAIL PIECE DESIGN

The Razr 250's super-thin profile and gentle C-shape configuration make it our our new go-to wing thanks to its speed, efficiency and maneuverability. Suitable for wing, sup, surf, pump foiling, dock starts or downwind runs. Bascially everything.

The tail wings are made from 28 layers of high-modulus carbon, pressed at high temperatures under tremendous hydraulic pressure for maximum precision, stiffness and performance.

The carbon tail piece is available in sizes 31 or 36, we chose the 36 for the standard wing set since the 36 adds more stability while still offering plenty of maneuverability and reactivity.

SUMMARY

The S-Type wing set is for surfing waves and carving maneuvers. The S-Types feel solid, stable and secure. They react instantly and precisely to carving pressure.
